Role Overview
You won’t just be writing code here; you will be leading the design and delivery of complex web solutions. Synchrony is currently undergoing a major transformation, shifting toward cloud-native microservices and micro-frontend architectures. As an AVP, you will translate high-level business requirements into technical reality using Spring Boot, React JS, and cutting-edge AI integration tools.
You will lead a blended team of Synchrony employees and vendors. This means your day-to-day will involve balancing hands-on technical guidance with strategic project planning, ensuring that every service is scalable, resilient, and secure.
Key Technical Requirements
To succeed in this role, you need a strong mix of legacy stability and modern innovation:
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in software engineering with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead engineer capacity (or 6+ years of relevant experience without a degree).
- Stack: Deep hands-on expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and React JS.
- Architecture: Knowledge of micro-frontends, REST APIs, and event-driven systems is critical.
- Cloud & DevOps: Working knowledge of AWS and CI/CD pipelines is a major advantage.
- AI Readiness: Practical experience using tools like GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT to accelerate development and documentation processes.
